Our Projects are Real Stories

At HelloADU, we're proud to make a difference in the Bay Area. Our innovative approach to Accessory Dwelling Units has helped homeowners add extra living space, generate rental income, and increase housing affordability in their neighborhoods. With 18 years of successful projects under our belt, we're thrilled to be at the forefront of the ADU movement.

A Homecoming

A few years ago, Kelivn moved to America for a job in tech. It was hard to leave his parents in Hong Kong, especially as a single child. Despite the distance the family has stayed close. When Kelvin purchased his home in Alameda County he quickly decided to build an ADU in his backyard for his parents. It is important for Kelvin that his parents know they always have a home with him.

Flexibility and Family

Supporting family and friends has always been important to us.  By creating a backyard ADU, we are turning our South San Francisco home into an affordable space that is flexible for every phase of life!

Birds of a feather, flock together

Keeping the family and flock together through housing!

At 74 years-old, Carol, a retired public school teacher, joined forces with Hello Housing and her son to create a home, filled with everything she loves, close to family.

The Power of Partnership

Taking on a project as a single mom can feel overwhelming, however with the right partners, great things can happen!

The New Ideal

Three generations of family coming together, sharing space, building community and tackling the Bay Area's high cost of housing.

Supporting the Launch

Trying to make it work in the Bay Area after college graduation can be tough, but thanks to new ADU laws that allow the conversion of an existing garage into housing, this South San Francisco family now has a winning strategy to support the launch.

Retiring with Grace

"From concept to an actual dwelling, Hello Housing was a wonderful partner!  I wasn't sure how I was going to plan for retirement, earn income and stay in my home until I partnered with Hello Housing.  The team provided exactly what I needed - a consultant and advisor who would first educate me on a project that I thought was overwhelming and out of reach!"

Hobby to Housing

There are many different ways to create additional housing through ADUs and this Fair Oaks, CA homeowner took advantage of attaching a new ADU to an existing garage that sits in front of their home.

Creating Community in Pacifica

“We did not know anything, so Hello Housing helped us with basically everything.  Having a point of contact for questions and concerns gave us the confidence to complete our ADU.”  Dan & Marta

Early Retirement

"Without participating in this program, I would not know how to start my ADU project, from application, City

Codes, permit, choosing designers, contractor, materials, appliance, etc. With Hello Housing support and assistance, my dream to retire early with ADU rental income became true!"

Best of Both Worlds

“We had questions for the designer and contractor, but HelloADU helped us know the questions we should be asking and understand the construction contract language."

Simply Grateful

“Hello Housing has been instrumental in guiding us through, including referring professionals, reviewing bids and contracts, providing tools to track construction, and being a thought partner when challenges came up.

I couldn’t have done this without them!”
